NO INPUT DETECTED

THE RE EMERGENCE OF ANALOGUE IN GRAPHIC DESIGN

No Input Detected is a culmination of my studies as a graphic design student at PennWest Edinboro. a personal and conceptual thesis that visualizes the reemergence of analog aesthetics in modern design culture. As digital media becomes increasingly streamlined, automated, and AI-driven, this project explores why so many designers, myself included, are turning back to the raw, imperfect visual languages of the past. The zine pulls from CRT monitors, glitch textures, 4:3 screen ratios, and early UX/UI elements to craft a nostalgic, tactile response to a world obsessed with polish and efficiency.

For the final deliverable, I designed a 10-page zine that mixes historical research with expressive design. Each spread incorporates terminal-style UI elements, bold typography, encoded text, and lo-fi textures, inviting the reader to slow down and interact with the material in a way that feels physical and grounded. The visual tone references 80s and 90s cyberpunk influences, early internet design, and the aesthetics of human error.
